Message From The Pastor – Oct. 21, 2012

Dear Parishioners and Guests of St. Joseph’s,
Today we warmly wish to welcome Bishop Peter Stasiuk
who will celebrate a Pontifical Liturgy today and preach the “Word
of God”. He apologizes that he could not be with us at the Saturday
Liturgy, but he is committed to speak at St. Peter and Paul’s at that time. Next year he celebrates his 20th Anniversary as the Bishop of Australia, etc.. We in advance sing Mnohaya Lita and God blessings!
Our Adult Religious Enrichment series has begun as of last Sunday. “The Jesus Life Style” is an excellent informative and challenging program and we encourage you to actively participate. This takes place at 10 am – 11 am – Please be on time. Come and taste! God will truly bless you and yours!
The Children’s Catechism classes run concurrently and yes, we need to see all the “little ones” enrolled and regularly attending. Dear parents, it is your personal commitment to raise your child in the Christian faith, teach them and show them how to live like Jesus – we truly want to help you on their spiritual journey. And yes, you are expected to bring the children with you to the Liturgy, either at 8:30 or 11:00 am. This children’s program is so very important and so necessary – for all our parish children.
This Sunday we will be having a Commissioning and Blessing of our Catechists – these dedicated parents who offer to teach our children! What a blessing each of you are to the whole parish family! Also the children in Grade 4 will receive their special individual Bibles and are encouraged to read them!
Being an active member of St. Joseph’s means that we support the many programs that are organized by our various church organizations, be it – the UCWLC, the SENIOR’S CLUB, the KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS, the MEN’S CLUB, the CHOIR, etc.
In the coming weeks they have arranged special “Fund-raiser” events and we are encouraging you to support them by purchasing some tickets and planning to participate. These are also fun family-creating occasions and they help us to grow as a parish family – to know one another, enjoy each other and in the process, help the various causes.
The “Outreach” program, eg., sincerely asks you to bring canned goods or other non-perishable foods and place them in the box at the door of the church. This small active committee prepares food hampers for the poor, the homeless and the shut-ins. Please share of your blessings… and they will take care of the packing and delivering…
Did you know that our fellow Redemptorists in Ukraine, under the guidance of our Father Ihor Kolisnyk, are celebrating 100 years of their spiritual missionary and pastoral work the week of Nov. 18 – 24th? Many of these Redemptorists immigrated to Canada in the early 20’s and years after to dedicate their lives in serving us Ukrainian Canadians. For their lives and work, we are most grateful! Yes, I plan to return to Lviv, Ukraine for this occasion. My last journey there was 7 years ago – so it is about time!
Wishing you a wonderful, peaceful, joyful, loveful and
even Lukieful day, I give much thanks to God for each of you!
